The Brief

The brief was to provide an off-grid solar system for a garden office in Plymouth. The client wanted to generate renewable energy from solar and store it for future use.

The system needed to generate enough energy for light use while adding a little extra for times of higher demand.

The solution

The solution we provided was the 1800W, 24V, 5.5kWh Professional Off-Grid Solar System. Enough for modest use and ideal for outbuildings, garages, workshops and other types of property.

On average, this system can generate around 15kWh per day in the British climate.

The system includes 6x 300w solar panels, a solar inverter, 4x Rolls AGM batteries and all the cables and connections to make the system work.

We upgraded the batteries to lithium batteries because they were capable of more cycles (6000 vs. 1500 cycles) and are smaller and lighter than AGM. While space wasn’t an issue, the more efficient energy cycle was a key requirement.

We also changed the default panel brackets for a set designed specifically for this type of roof.

Finally, we fully installed the off-grid solar system in Plymouth using one of our trusted installation teams. We delivered all the components to the site and installed everything quickly and efficiently.

The team we use are known for being fast but meticulous and for leaving the site clean, tidy and as if they had never been there. A small, but fundamental quality in an installation team.

The Outcome

The result is a fully self-powering garden office with enough generation potential and storage for almost any climatic condition. The system sits out of the way, the solar panels fit the roof perfectly and the entire installation delivers on its promise.

The client is very pleased with their new off-grid solar system. Changing the roof brackets meant a better fit on their roof, lithium batteries don’t take up quite so much space and the overall effectiveness of the system has provided the reassurance needed that there will always be power.
