Everything is included within a home solar power system. We supply kits that include everything you need to generate free, renewable energy.
On-Grid solar power systems include:
- Solar panels and roof mounting kit
- Solar power inverter to convert DC energy from the panels to AC mains current
- Power management system (WiFi)
- All cabling, fixtures and fittings to connect everything together
- Optional batteries and connections to store the energy and charge controller
Prices include all parts, installation, labour and full guarantees on everything. You’ll have everything you need to generate green energy with the minimum of fuss or maintenance.
We use reliable and very efficient solar panels that we have tried and tested here at Sunstore Solar. They are available in a range of sizes and wattages for different situations.
All panels come with mounting kits for standard roofs.
You’ll also need a power inverter. Solar panels generate DC current and your home uses AC current. The inverter converts DC into AC so it can be stored and transported efficiently and then be used by your appliances.
On-Grid solar power systems also come with a management system so you can monitor charge, performance and other data. These are often WiFi connected for ease of use.
If you elect to use batteries to store the energy you generate, the system will also include enough storage for the system with a margin of error.

Battery storage will require a charge controller. This manages the charge from the solar panels and ensures batteries are charged evenly and not overcharged, which could damage them.

You have to factor in roof size, roof angle to the sun, average number of hours of daylight and average household energy use.

On average, a three bedroom home would typically require between 3.5kW and 4.4kW of energy.
A smaller, energy efficient home may require 2.5kW and upwards depending on average energy use.

Yes, you can store excess energy you generate using a home solar power system. Systems can be specified with batteries that can store the energy and feed it to the house.
This provides green energy for evenings and the darkest days and prevents wasting any of the energy you generate throughout daylight.
You then have the option to either store the energy you generate in your batteries or feed it into the grid to make a little money.

How long will it take to install a home solar power system?
It takes between 1-3 days to install a home solar power system.
Smaller systems can be done in a day while battery systems or more complex installations may take longer.
We can provide an accurate estimate when we quote.
Can I still earn money now the feed-in tariff is no longer available?
Yes, you can still earn money even though the feed-in tariff has gone.
There are other schemes available through the smart export guarantee (SEG).
It isn’t as generous as the feed-in tariff (FIT) but it does pay you for selling excess energy to the grid.
Sunstore recommend switching over to the Octopus Flux plan as this offers the best export rates for energy.
Can I install an on-grid solar power system myself?
No, you cannot install an on-grid solar power system yourself.
These systems require professional installation as they link to your consumer unit and the electrical grid.
Only qualified installation engineers can perform this task. Sunstore Solar does sell DIY solar kits if you would prefer to install it yourself though.
