Shed Solar Kits FAQs

Can I put solar panels on my shed?
You can put solar panels on your shed as long as the roof is strong enough and has a direct view of the sun. It’s totally legal to add them, but your main concern should be ensuring the roof can safely handle the weight of the panels.
A shed solar kit includes everything you need to begin generating renewable energy. They include a solar panel or panels, charge controller to charge the battery, a DC isolator, battery and all the fuses, cables and connectors you need to put it all together. There is everything within a shed solar kit you need to generate power. Your only decision is how much power you need and what kit to buy. We can help with that if you need us to.
The size of solar panels you need depends on how much energy you want to generate. Panels come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so you’ll have to think about what you want to use the energy for and go from there.
The roof space you need depends on how many solar panels you want to install. Solar panels are specific sizes and will need to be installed with a small gap between them. Assess your total roof space and then calculate how many panels will fit.
Portable solar panels come with a stand and can be moved around by hand. They are ideal for camping and motorhomes and can be used for sheds too. Much will depend on how much energy you need. Portable solar panels offer more limited generation potential than roof mounted panels.
Sunstore’s range of shed solar panels range from 100W up to 650W. Smaller panel kits could work for powering lights and perhaps a radio. You’ll need a larger kit for power tools, appliances or other uses though. We can help if you need assistance specifying a shed roof solar kit.
There are two main types of solar panel you can use on a shed, monocrystalline or polycrystalline. Monocrystalline panels are more efficient but more expensive. Polycrystalline are less efficient but less expensive. As space is limited, we recommend going for the most efficient panels your budget allows.
Yes, shed solar kits are easy to install. If you’re comfortable with basic tools and can follow instructions, you’ll be generating renewable energy in no time. All shed solar kits come with clear installation instructions and the fixtures and fittings you’ll need to install them.
